Top Five things you need to know when Choosing a Legal or Conveyancing Company to Buy and Sell Your Home

1.  Consider instructing your legal company BEFORE an estate agent so that you can get a better deal on the Home Information Pack.


2.  When buying or selling a home, the legal work that is carried out is called ‘conveyancing’. Therefore a solicitor or a Conveyancer can carry out the legal work.


3.  Legal work can take time and you want a company that is ‘proactive’ on your purchase or sale. Look for a company that offers fixed fee legal services. The faster they get your legals done, the more money they make.


4.  If the market is quite difficult (like 2007 to 2010) then more sales/purchases fall through, so it’s worth considering finding a company that offers ‘no sale, no fee’ legals.


5.  When carrying out legals, you really need to ‘leave’ the legal people alone. So look for companies that have email and text tracking systems and people to answer your call and questions outside of legal hours.
